Module 3: The Mind-Body Connection | Lesson Spread Mockup
Hi Friends! Have you ever heard of "fight or flight"? I didn't learn about it until I was way older, and I wish someone had told me sooner!
Let's try something:
πͺ¨ Imagine a rock is flying toward your head. What does your body do? You DUCK!
π Or if a dog growls and looks ready to attack? You back away fast.
π± Someone jumps out and scares you? You probably scream!
This is all because of a tiny but mighty part of your brain called the AMYGDALA.
π‘ KEY IDEA:
Think of your amygdala like a smoke detector in your house. It's always watching for danger to keep you safe. That's actually pretty cool, right?
But Sometimes It Gets a Little TOO Helpful...
Here's the tricky part: Your amygdala can't always tell the difference between REAL danger (like that rock!) and just feeling upset or worried.
- When you get really angry or stressedβeven if you're totally safeβyour amygdala thinks: "DANGER! TIME TO PROTECT THIS KID!"
-
So it releases special chemicals (called stress hormones) that make your body feel:
                            - Heart racing π
- Hard to breathe
- Stomach feeling weird
- Grumpy or sad

BUT HERE'S THE COOLEST PART: We can train our brains through mindfulness to tell our amygdala, "Hey, we're okay! No need for the alarm!"
This lets us think clearly even when we're upset.
π Think about it like sports: The more you practice, the better you get! Your brain works the same way. Let's practice together now!
